Nutritious and Delicious

I was recording a new episode of our podcast and upon finishing up the thought popped in my head to do a podcast on this subject.  Then I thought this would be a good article for the blog as well.  So here it is!  Why have we or why do we say that our products are “nutritious and delicious?”  Because they are!  Okay, I don’t want to just be subjective, I want to share with you objectively some evidence.

Let’s take our signature product, the item that got us started, the world famous Black Muslim bean pie.

The name “bean pie” kind of takes one back.  When you say, pumpkin pie or sweet potato pie that seems to agree with folks.  But many are not aware of a “bean pie” so antennas go up.  The thought, I would imagine is, “who would even think of putting beans in a pie?”  Somebody did and the result is awesome!  Let’s look at some of the ingredients that make up the “bean pie.”  The bean pie contains navy beans or small white beans, raw sugar, eggs, organic milk, whole wheat flour and cinnamon to name the bulk of the ingredients we use.  Just looking at these items lets one know that they are dealing with “super foods.”  But let’s break them down.

The navy bean contains according to the USDA protein, carbohydrates, fiber, potassium, sugar and fat.

The protein in navy beans is considered “incomplete” protein, unlike meat or dairy but when combined with other plants foods it becomes “complete” protein.  Navy beans also include a number of minerals such as folate, iron, zinc, magnesium, and calcium.  One more note navy beans ward off radiation.

Raw sugar I would say is the “original” form of sugar.  It is processed less than other sugars and all other sugars continue being “processed” from raw sugar. Therefore, real “cane sugar” is raw sugar or it should be!  Most raw sugars contain minerals such as sodium, iron, calcium and potassium.  The brown color of raw sugar is from the molasses it contains.

Eggs, the prices of eggs have gone through the roof!  We saw this during the “pandemic.”  This time it is blamed on a “bird-flu!” It is really the result of killing 166 million chickens! Anyhow, eggs are what they call “nutrient dense.”  This means that eggs are loaded with nutrients.  Eggs contain carbohydrates, sugars, fat, protein, sodium and choline an essential nutrient not vitamin or mineral.  Eggs also contain vitamin D, phosphorus, vitamin A and two B-complex vitamins. Eggs are also a very good source of riboflavin, and selenium as well as many other nutrients.

Milk, we use organic milk. But milk is considered a “complete food.”  It has been said that “A single cup provides nearly every nutrient your body needs.”  However, this kind of milk has been “arrested!”

Milk contains fat, sugars, carbohydrates, protein and water.  Milk also contains vitamins and minerals such as vitamin B-12, calcium, riboflavin, and phosphorus.

Whole wheat flour is made from the whole grain.  This means that it contains the wheat bran and wheat germ.  Nothing has been removed or taken out.  They say it’s a “nutrient dense” variety, unlike all purpose or white flours.  Our flour at Muhammad Farms is milled only and therefore retains its full nutrient profile.  Whole wheat flour contains proteins, carbohydrates, fiber, sugars, vitamins and minerals such as chromium, selenium, potassium, manganese, iron, magnesium, zinc and B vitamins.

Lastly, I’ll include cinnamon.  Cinnamon is a spice that contains potassium, magnesium and calcium. Cinnamon also contains small amounts of protein, fat, carbohydrates, and fiber. Cinnamon has antioxidant, antibiotic and anti-inflammatory properties.

Our products are all natural, wholesome, nutritious and delicious.  We use only the best ingredients and later for the white sugar, white flours, dyes, trans fats, artificial flavors, GMO ingredients and preservatives.  There you have it, “nutritious and delicious!”  Not only is our bean pie that, but all of our baked goods are also nutritious and delicious!  Don’t believe me?  Try them for yourself!  They will make you a “believer!”
